SK Oran
For 15 years, Cikgu Dhiya Safina has dedicated herself to one mission: ensuring every child masters the foundations of basic literacy and numeracy. Her classroom thrives on differentiated learning, powered by her own innovations such as Monopoly Roda Suku Kata 3.0 and Papan Spin Pizza. Beyond her classroom, Cikgu Dhiya empowers parents as active partners in their children’s learning journey. She regularly conducts workshops such as Bengkel Mengenal Huruf and Bengkel Suku Kata Terbuka to help parents understand effective techniques for supporting literacy at home. She also organises learning carnivals as revision activities before assessments, where parents themselves serve as facilitators at each learning kiosk. These events not only deepen parents’ understanding of teaching techniques but also infuse joy and play into the learning process. Her parent volunteers, fondly known as the “Team Ibu Vangers”, are a group of six mothers whose children have successfully exited remedial classes. They now assist her in running intervention programmes and supporting other struggling learners. Recently, all 10 illiterate students in her class achieved reading fluency, and another 15 had transitioned into mainstream classes, some even stepping up as school emcees and student reporters.
