Awang Jaya has been an ordinary teacher, lecturer at Teacher Training Institute/IPGM, KPP, District Education Office, Principal, and currently a District Education Officer at the Sabah State Education Department. He also a mentor and evaluator for the Innovative Teacher Award by the State Education Department
