The Malaysia Teacher Prize is open to currently-working teachers who teach children between the ages of five and eighteen that are in compulsory schooling. Compulsory schooling includes public schools, private schools, and schools by non-profit organisations that abide by the Malaysian national syllabus. Teachers must spend at least 10 hours per week teaching children face-to-face, and plan to remain in the teaching profession for the next 5 years. Teachers who hold leadership and special positions in schools are encouraged to apply.

The Malaysia Teacher Prize application can be done in two languages - Bahasa Melayu and English. After you register on the Malaysia Teacher Prize application page, you can select your preferred language for each application and nomination. All application/nomination questions are presented in a bilingual format.

No, you can submit as many recommendations as you like. To recommend teachers for the Malaysia Teacher Prize, simply submit their full names, phone numbers and e-mails, one at a time. We will send them an email to start their applications.

For each Malaysia Teacher Prize application, there are two options at the end - “Save and continue later” and "Submit" functions.

If you wish to revise and edit your application at a later time, please select the "Save and continue later" to pause and continue your application later. When you choose this option, you will receive an email with a unique link to your application for you to come back and complete it at a later time.

If you are satisfied with your application, please press "Submit" to finalize your application. Once an application is submitted, it can no longer be edited.

If you have been shortlisted as the Malaysia Teacher Prize Top 10 Finalists, you will receive direct communication from us notifying you of the decision. If you did not receive any form of communications after the Finalists are announced, it unfortunately means you have not been selected as the Top 10 Finalists.

Unfortunately, all Malaysia Teacher Prize applications and recommendations must be done online through our website. Any materials sent in via post or e-mail will not be accepted as valid applications or be taken into consideration alongside an online application.

The Malaysia Teacher Prize money will be paid in equal annual instalments over a period of two years for the Winner. The rest of the Malaysia Teacher Prize Top 5 Finalists will receive their prize money in one payment.

The Winner and the rest of the Top 5 Finalists of the Malaysia Teacher Prize will be announced during the Award Ceremony that will be carried out in October/November.

A group of judges, known as the Prize Committee will select the applicants who are shortlisted for the second application stage whereby more materials will be collected before a further shortlist to the interview stage(s). Thereafter, the Committee will select the Top 10 Finalists, Top 5 Finalists and the Winner. All applications are reviewed based on a rubric to ensure fairness and consistency.
